Abstract: Guidelines on intensive care units (ICUs) admission define that potentially unstable patients could be admitted to intermediate care units (IMCUs) with step-up transference to ICU, if necessary. However, the safety of such approach is not well established in the literature. We aimed to analyze factors associated to such step-up transferences.
